Dental check-ups

Regular dental check-ups are vital for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. An appointment with our dentist in Gravesend or Northfleet every six months helps us keep track of your oral health and enables us to spot any problems early.

During your check-up, your dentist will:

  • Assess the condition of your teeth
  • Assess your gum health and check for gum disease
  • Take X-rays when necessary
  • Screen for oral cancer
  • Give hygiene advice
  • Provide you with a personalised treatment plan, should it be needed

Root canals

Tooth decay can occur for a variety of reasons, and if left untreated can lead to cavities, pain and infection. Regular check-ups enable your dentist to detect this at an early stage, when a simple restorative treatment, such as a filling, is possible.

Root canal treatment, also called endodontics, is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. Once the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled.

Dental crowns

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth.

Sometimes known as a ‘capÎ, crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A dental crown could be used for a number of other reasons, including to improve the appearance of discoloured fillings or to protect a root canal filling. A dental crown may also be used to hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

Our dentists use CEREC technology, so that you can be in and out in a single visit with a permanent all-ceramic crown and a brand-new smile!

Oral surgery

Always a last resort, removing a tooth is sometimes necessary for your overall dental health. In such cases, we will always provide you with tooth replacement options to consider prior to an extraction and our team will ensure you feel comfortable and safe throughout your treatment. For very anxious patients we also offer sedation.

Caring for nervous patients

Dental treatment such as endodontics and oral surgery can seem daunting. At Parrock Dental weÎre experienced with working with nervous patients and our practice is designed to be a calm, relaxed environment. From chatting through your concerns to local anaesthetic and IV sedation options, weÎre here to help.

Mouth cancer screening

Mouth cancer screening is a quick, non-invasive procedure carried out by your dentist as part of a regular check-up at Parrock Dental. It involves a thorough examination of your whole mouth – your dentist will use a handheld scanner to examine any lumps or lesions. This will highlight any risk factors so we can treat or refer you as quickly as possible.

Although we offer some of the highest quality treatments in the UK, at Parrock Dental our overall aim is to help you avoid invasive procedures by maintaining healthy teeth and gums for longer. We do this by:
