HOW WILL I KNOW IF I NEED ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

Orthodontic treatment isnÎt necessary for everyone, and we will only recommend treatment if we think you can benefit from it. During your initial free consultation at Parrock Dental weÎll discuss your needs and your dental assessment will enable your dentist to make suitable treatment suggestions. Orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign can help not only improve the symmetry of your smile, it can also help with digestion, speech impediments and oral hygiene.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONÎT WEAR MY ALIGNERS PROPERLY?

If you donÎt wear your Invisalign aligners for the recommended 22 hours a day it can slow down your treatment progress and push back the smile results you are hoping for. Remember to pop them back in after eating, drinking and brushing your teeth!

DO I HAVE TO WEAR RETAINERS FOLLOWING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

Once your teeth have moved into their new straight position and your treatment is complete, they have to be held in place for a time to let the bone rest. You will need to make sure you wear your retainers properly as instructed by your dentist, or the positioning of your teeth could relapse

IS INVISALIGN MORE EFFECTIVE THAN TRADITIONAL BRACES?

Invisalign can be just as effective as traditional braces and used to treat many dental conditions. The treatment has a high level of accuracy because the results can be predicted from the early planning stage. Just how effective the teeth straightening technique may be for individual cases will depend on a variety of factors and is conditional on
patients adhering to the treatment plan.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED FOR A DENTAL CROWN?

If you need restorative dental treatment like a dental crown, our dentists in Gravesend and Northfleet can use CEREC technology. It means you can be in and out of our practice in a single visit with a permanent, all ceramic crown, onlay, or veneer! For our patients this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care. With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SEE A DENTAL HYGIENIST?

Regular appointments with a dental hygienist at Parrock Dental help keep your teeth and gums clean and free of plaque. We recommend our patients see our dental hygienist at our Gravesend or Northfleet practice at least once a year, if possible, as well as attending routine dental check-ups around every six months.

I FIND IT HARD TO FIT DENTAL APPOINTMENTS AROUND WORK, DO YOU HAVE EVENING APPOINTMENTS?

We know life gets busy and want to make it as easy as possible for our patients to access the dental care they need. Our Gravesend practice is open until 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we are pleased to offer Saturday appointments by pre-arrangement in both Gravesend and Northfleet.

I’M A NERVOUS PATIENT, HOW CAN PARROCK DENTAL HELP?

For many people going to the dentist can be a highly stressful experience, and being anxious is entirely normal. Our beautifully designed practices have a tranquil and inviting atmosphere, and our skilled staff are trained to help anxious patients through every treatment. Our patients agree that our dental check-ups are relaxing and even enjoyable, thanks to an in chair DVD entertainment system, comfortable seating and the outstanding service delivered by our team.

IS TEETH WHITENING SAFE?

When carried out under the guidance of our dental professionals here in Gravesend and Northfleet, teeth whitening is a safe treatment. We would, however, advise against treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Teeth whitening can cause sensitivity, which is normal, and should subside soon after treatment. Your dentist will give you some simple advice to reduce the sensitivity whilst you get your desired result.
