What is Invisalign and how does it work?

If you've ever thought about how improving your smile could help you feel more confident, in your professional life or socially, Invisalign might be for you. Enjoy the smile you have always wanted, without conventional braces.

The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks. Each aligner is custom-made for your teeth, and unlike fixed braces, there are no wires or brackets. As each aligner in the series gets to work, your teeth gradually move, until they are in a new straight position.

Before & After

Why Invisalign is the clear choice

Invisalign has helped teens and adults across Kent achieve straighter smiles—quickly, comfortably, and almost invisibly.

  • Virtually invisible and wire-free for a more comfortable, discreet experience.
  • Removable aligners allow easy brushing, flossing, and no food restrictions.
  • Fewer dental visits with a custom treatment plan tailored to your needs.
  • Track your progress with the official Invisalign app.

3D imaging for precise results

Using iTero scanner technology, at Parrock Dental we can create a digital 3D map of your teeth in minutes, which you'll be able to view in real-time. This shows the series of movements your teeth will make over the course of your Invisalign treatment and enables you to see what your new smile will look like at the end.

Frequently asked questions about Invisalign

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE INVISALIGN TEETH STRAIGHTENING TREATMENT?

If you are looking for a discreet yet highly effective way enabling you to straighten your teeth, Invisalign could be right for you. Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible, so you can straighten your teeth without anyone noticing. The aligners are comfortable - there are no wires or metal to cause mouth abrasions. Invisalign aligners are removable for eating, drinking, dental care, or other activities. They also promote better oral hygiene during treatment, brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth.

IS INVISALIGN ONLY FOR ADULTS?

No, you just need to have all your adult/permanent teeth (fully erupted molars). You’ll also need to be committed to wearing your Invisalign aligners at all times except for eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth.

HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TEETH STRAIGHTENING TAKE?

Depending on the complexity of your individual case, most Invisalign treatments will take 12-18 months.

DO THE INVISALIGN ALIGNERS HURT?

It is normal that you will feel temporary discomfort when you wear the aligners for the first few days. The smooth aligners are not harmful to the inside of your mouth, but you do feel pressure and this is a good sign that the aligners are working.

What dental problems can Invisalign help to fix?

Invisalign can be a suitable and highly effective solution for a range of orthodontic issues.

TEETH CROWDING

Crowding happens when there is insufficient space for all the teeth in your mouth. Crowded teeth are crooked and overlap each other.

PROTRUSION

A protrusion is most obvious when upper front teeth prominently jut outwards beyond the lower front teeth.

OVERBITE

In an overbite, the upper front teeth completely cover the lower teeth when they close together.

OPEN BITE

If your upper and lower teeth do not meet when you close your mouth, then you may have an open bite.

CROSSBITE

Upper teeth normally close down over the outer edge of the opposing lower teeth. In a crossbite, the lower teeth close over the outside of the upper teeth.

UNDERBITE

Also called a reverse bite, underbite occurs when the lower jaw and front teeth protrude beyond the upper front teeth.

GAPS

Wide spaces between your teeth may make you feel self-conscious about your smile.

OVERJET

Overjet refers to upper front teeth that protrude horizontally away from the lower front teeth. This results in an atypical horizontal distance between the upper and lower teeth.
